ACT V ~ AGNUS DEI

Read composer’s note

15. ELU

15. LIFE
Here’s one more invitation to the dance.
And who could be fit to receive it?
The one who gives his own life for others,
to exchange it of his volition, selflessly?

But I hear strings shiver within, Hammering and pounding,
And clarity in truth disappears.
If only he would take my card and open it himself!

16. REKLAAMIMEES
Töö on ju töö ja minu töö on too:
ma päästan tammi tagant valla mõttevoo.
Saab maailm sisse keerlemiseks uue hoo,
see ohutu on – õnnetusi kaasa see ei too.

On rääkind jumal ühe,
mina räägin teise loo!
Kuid vahel haprail päevil
mul tundub elu lihtsalt mülgas — soo,
ma küll ei tea, kes ajakangast koob,
kuid oleks tollel masinal üks hoob,
ma peataks aja kulu aja käigu —
see teile jõhker-pahatahtlik näigu,
ent olemise matkimiseks, olemise siiraks oluks
ei ole ruumi minu rahutus pääkolus.

Ma nagu laps nüüd jumala ees põlvili siin pärin:
kui kõik on õhk ja pettepilt,
mis üldse on siis päris?
Ka keset palavamat päeva,
ka kodus mitme teki all,
mu keha läbib halvav külmavärin.

Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi,
miserere nobis.

16. AD MAN
Work is just work and my work is this:
From behind the dam I set free an open flow of thought.
The world takes new momentum from my spin.
It’s quite safe, you know. It won’t cause any accidents.

God has spoken to us,
But I tell a different story!
Yet sometimes on the fragile days
It seems that life is liquid, like a swamp.
I do not know who weaves time’s fabric,
but if I could, (for that machine has a handle,)
I would stop the waste of time, the movement through time —
To you this might seem brutal, or malicious,
But if we’re imitating truth, a state of some sincerity,
There’s no room in my restless skull for that.

Like a child now here, on my knees before God, I ask:
if all things must be empty air and false,
Then what remains on earth that’s true or real?
Even on the hottest day,
at home under my blankets,
My body shakes with paralyzing chills.

Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world,
Have mercy on us.

17. ELU

miserere nobis.

Kuid olen vaid üks tants,
kus igaüks peab ise õiged sammud,
õige rütmi leidma,
nüüd palun,
lausa anun!,
sesse tantsuringi teid ma,
sest kuigi seda maailma vahel kutsutakse
surma kuningriigiks,
te peate teadma,
mäng on seni viigis!

Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi,
Dona nobis pacem.

17. LIFE
From the time we are children, always we are told – that this is how it is,
Our life has a set of rules and rigid customs we follow,
So you must hurry up and run, and study, preparing,
And only after all that do you start to live,
so the way of the world tells us, so they say.

Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world,
Have mercy on us.

I am only a dance,
A dance where everyone must find their own steps,
their perfect rhythm,
Now, asking,
I implore you!,
Join the circle of our dancing.
This beautiful world with its wonders is sometimes known as
the land where death is king,
You cannot help but know
We must take our chances!

Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world,
grant us peace.
